If Crowley had only trusted his instincts and slam-dunked Gabriel to Hell, he’d be absolutely thriving as Beelzebub’s kept himbo. Cheerfully and incompetently doing little office jobs to keep him busy. Destroying Hell’s records system but nobody can say anything because Beelzebub will feed them to lava spiders. Gabriel would demoralize Hell with his kenergy in a way he never could as an archangel.

I think it’s important to know, there’s an older picture of David signing stuff, with his father-in-law WHO WAS THE FIFTH DOCTOR, holding a very similar sign behind David’s back. I don’t have the pic, but you can probably find it if you look a bit.

Some Better Call Saul fanart. Who else loves this show? I love Jimmy and Kim so much and can’t wait for season 5! :’)
Gay transgender activist Lou Sullivan spent years researching the life of Jack Garland, an obscure early 20th century transgender man who evidently loved men. He rifled though archived newspapers and letters in local libraries for any scrap relevant to Jack, and finally managed to get the completed novel published only very shortly before his death by AIDS in 1990. The book made a single run from a now-defunct publishing company, so a very limited number of copies of the book exist today. Approximately 30 libraries carry it across the US and certain sellers have another handful of copies available for upwards of $200+ each.
However, I could afford to shell out that $200, and I think Lou would want his book to be accessible to the modern trans population. So I’ve bought a copy and scanned it and converted the pages into a PDF,which is now public on google drive

I’m still thinking about Jimmy and his three suit jackets in the mirror in 6x01. We have the past (his ill-fitting, sad brown S1 suit), the present (the jacket with the little boxes that matches Kim’s outfit that he’ll wear that day), and the future (the shiny Saul Goodman suit that we eventually see him wear to testify in federal court in the finale).
Seeing Jimmy pick among these suits for Kim’s client could be too heavy-handed or too meta, but fashion is so important to him and his character that it feels like an appropriate crossroads to find him at. The past and the future are so tangible, he can touch them and make choices about them, let go of them when he is ready and put them back to hang in his closet when he is not.
Some Reddit comments point out how similar the silver jacket is to the shiny metallic suits that the Salamanca twins wear - in the same episode, one of their jackets is laid respectfully over one of the burned dead bodies as a shroud. But what really stands out over the course of the season is the connection to Kim’s shiny silver d-day blouse.
This is Kim at her girlbossiest, making the worst decisions with the most confidence, getting high off the results. This is where they were so beautifully in sync they could have read each other’s minds, and where they destroyed their lives, and they did it together. Kim was wearing it when they probably last had sex. (I’m going back and forth on this because they could have had some traumatized sex after Howard’s death - but with the scam being such a sexual thrill for Kim in particular I’m thinking that the trauma shut that down for her.) The blouse is shiny, bold, and flamboyant, but still has a certain kind of neutrality. It’s a blank screen for the red light of criminality and treachery of the show’s color code to project onto, in the dark room scenes.
Jimmy’s court outfit is kind of wild on the face of it, more unhinged than most of his Saul persona outfits, especially in the behind the scenes pictures where you can see the red shirt underneath the shiny silver blazer. It’s a callback to those memories of Kim as much as his finger guns are - I remember us and how we got here. It shows what we all know - that when he walked into the courtroom, he was focused with one intent in his mind. And knowing Jimmy and the way he takes every little comment to heart (how I relate to that!), Kim’s casual assessment of the silver jacket in 2004 while she was on the phone, that it was “too nice” for court for her pro bono client to borrow, must still be lodged somewhere in his brain. Kim liked it once.
Anyway… the attention to detail is incredible.
Q:
what do you think the coolest thing you got to work on in the new spiderverse was? or was there anything you were completely geeked to work on/with?
definitely the coolest thing shot-wise that i got to work on was pavitr’s entrance, i animated everything from when we first see him to when the camera zooms in on his face going into his comicbook backstory (this one!)
i helped with a couple aspects of pav’s overall animation: his hair, his eye shapes, and playing with how he uses his bracelets in combination with his webs!
his hair is geo, meaning it doesn’t get simmed by cfx because the directors wanted it to keep its graphic shape. so i designed some different hair blendshapes for modelling to create for us and worked with rigging on how to best incorporate the different shapes into the rig, then animated wind cycles for other animators to drop into their scenes. animating hair is not normally something that animators are expected to do in feature animation
his mask eyes, by default, came into shots looking very smooth and rounded. i referenced art done by one of the concept artists to give him “diamond shaped” eyes with more nicely weighted lines, along with several other library poses for animators to use so that they don’t have to do all the shaping themselves (it took a long time because it required moving literally almost a hundred controls on each eye haha)
and finally, pavitr uses his webs with his bracelets to fight and get around! he uses his bracelet sort of like a spin top, keeping it spinning on his webs while standing still. i animated this first shot of him flicking it off his wrist:
my first pass on this didn’t have that close up of the bracelet at first and our anim director, bob persichetti felt like we couldn’t read it well enough and mentioned trying some crazier slow motion stuff like in RRR. so i went and watched RRR and immediately understood what i needed to do lol. i asked rohini kumar, another supervising animator on the movie, for some hindi onomatopoeia and she gave me this one, ‘tadaak’ which i’m told is sort of like a whack or pop!
